You’re going to be tested. It’s up to you to decide if you’ll pass or fail…

Why do you want to pass the test?

  1. When you pass a test there is always some sort of reward.
  2. Making right choices will help you in the future.
  3. Passing the test prepares you for the next text.
  4. Passing the test helps improve your self-control.

How do you pass the test?

  1. Decide to pass the test (overcome the pressure you’re feeling from the situation you’re dealing with).
  2. Ask yourself: “What am I thinking?” Are you positive or negative regarding your situation.
  3. Ask yourself: ” What am I speaking?” How are you verbally reinforcing your situation? Are you positive or negative?
  4. Analyze who you are spending time with. Friends have a huge impact on influencing your attitude.
  5. Are you blowing off your workout?
  6. What are you eating? Food sensitivities can really impact your mental and physical well-being.
  7. Pray to God for wisdom. Ask him to help you relieve the pressure.

Remember, if you want something to change, you’ve got to change something…

Sticking to your plan

Monday

Some ideas on sticking to your plan:

  1. Workout plan: Make an appointment with yourself for your workout, and prepare for your appointment. Before your workout, you should already know when, where, who with, how long, which exercises and what nutrition you’ll leverage in your workout. Making and keeping an appointment with yourself to work out will benefit those around you as well, by putting you in a better mood, making you feel better and more confident, as well as creating a more positive outlook.
  2. Relationship Plans: Pretty simple… Treat others as you would like to be treated.
  3. Financial plans: Pay cash when you can.
  4. Nutritional Plan: Have a blood analysis performed to determine what foods work best with your body, and what foods you may be allergic, or have an adverse reaction to.
  5. Spiritual Plan: Know that God is love, has a plan for you, and is working for good in your life.

A common conception is that it takes a long time and complicated workout programs to get results. That’s simply not true!

For most people, an approach that combines strength training and cardiovascular training into one workout will yield the best results over time, AND, it will only require a few hours a week.

This type of program will pay you dividends in the form of less trips to the doctor, less prescription drug cost, feeling better, having more energy, as well as a host of other reasons. The key is to keep your heart rate in your target training range WHILE you are doing your strength/resistance training.

Between sets, check your heart rate. If it’s low, increase the weight, rest less between sets or hit a cardio bike or stair climber between sets. If it’s too high, decrease weight or rest longer between sets. A typical workout would consist of:

  1. Warm up for 5-8 minutes
  2. Stretch for 4-5 minutes
  3. Work out for 45 minutes
  4. Stretch for 4-5 minutes

Remember, you don’t have to spend a lot of time working out to get results. The most efficient workout protocol for most people is one that COMBINES strength/resistance training with cardio training at the same time.

  • You should get into good shape before you try to improve and train for your sport.
  • Improving your skills in any sport can only happen to your full potential if you are in good overall shape.
  • You can be a good athlete, but being in good overall fitness before you start working on training for your sport will allow you to excel.
  • Being in good overall shape helps you recover and prevent injuries and should be the prerequisite of any sports training program.

  • Griping and complaining can be detrimental to your motivation in life.
  • By focusing on someone’s faults or the negative in a situation, you only generate more of those negative feelings.
  • We have to be so careful who we choose to air our problems and concerns with, will they give you positive advice?
  • When we are griping and complaining, we are pushing ourselves backwards.
  • Giving thanks in all situations is hard, but showing gratitude (no matter how slight) can have a major impact in changing your mood and turning to a positive attitude.
  • If you try hard enough, there is always something that you can be thankful for in life.
  • I encourage you today to police how much you are griping and complaining versus how much you are being thankful for in life. Stay focused on the great things in our lives and expect things to get even better and they will. Have a great day!

  • You should never blow off stretching before AND after a workout.
  • Always warm up before stretching. You should not stretch a “cold” muscle.
  • Get your heart rate up for 5-8 minutes before stretching and you’ll get a much better stretch.
  • A good stretch will do wonders for your workouts.
  • Make sure you are holding each stretch long enough.
  • Stretching should not feel uncomfortable.
  • If you are an athlete, it is important to stretch AFTER each competition. This will help you avoid being sore or achy the next day.

Tim Hallmark has been responsible for training Evander Holyfield for over 20 years and before every single workout, Evander had Tim warmed-up and stretched out. That’s is one of the reasons Evander Holyfield has been able to last so long as an athlete. The same went for Nolan Ryan, he always warmed up and stretched out before AND after his workouts. Stretching is a vital part of your workout program and will provide that you can perform well in your sport or fitness program for a long time.

  • Tim Hallmark thinks that Evander Holyfield is in better shape than he’s been in years.
  • As of the last two years, we’ve overcome some problems and are ready to go.
  • Evander is in just as good of shape as any boxer out there.
  • Evander shows no signs of memory loss or having trouble articulating his thoughts.
  • At 44 years old, Evander has the body of a 30 year old.
  • In the end, no one can make the decision but Evander. If he wants to keep fighting and no one can show him hard evidence as to why he shouldn’t, then he should fight.

  • Laying out specific goals is important when starting a workout program.
  • Making any improvements towards your goals, no matter how small, will help motivate you.
  • Changing your workout protocol or the exercises you do each day will help you feel like you’ve started a new program, which is a great way to stay motivated.
  • If you’ve been working out consistently, it is alright to take a break from your routine every 6-weeks or so.
  • Changing your workout environment can help get you motivated again.
  • Getting a workout partner, if your partner is compatible with your body type and fitness goals, is a good way to find a way to motivate each other.
  • Do you have food sensitivities? Your attitude and motivation can be effected significantly if you have some kind of food sensitivity.
  • Whatever you do, don’t blow off your workouts. Doing anything is better than doing nothing at all.
